Poomsae (Forms) Uniform

The Taekwondo Poomsae uniform, also known as the Poomsae Dobok, is a traditional outfit designed specifically for practicing and performing Taekwondo forms. Unlike the sparring (Kyorugi) uniform, the Poomsae uniform emphasizes tradition, discipline, and elegance of movement.

  • Design & Style:

    • The Poomsae uniform is usually slightly heavier than a sparring dobok, providing a crisp snap to techniques during performance.

    • It features a V-neck jacket (World Taekwondo standard) with wider sleeves and pants for free-flowing, powerful movements.

    • The uniform’s cut is designed to highlight precision, rhythm, and power in each stance and strike.

  • Colors & Symbolism:

    • White Base: Represents purity, focus, and respect.

    • Black Collar (Dan holders): Worn by black belt practitioners, symbolizing mastery and maturity.

    • Colored Collar (Poom belts): For junior black belts, showing their level of advancement.

    • Some official Poomsae uniforms also include gold trim for senior practitioners and international competition.

  • Functionality:
The Poomsae uniform is crafted to combine tradition with performance, allowing practitioners to demonstrate their skills with grace, accuracy, and power. Its design helps accentuate the rhythm, balance, and spirit that define Taekwondo forms.
