The Meghalaya Taekwondo School (MTS), formerly known as the Meghalaya Taekwondo Training School (MTTS), was founded on 15th March 2006 by Mr. Donbor Lyngdoh, Chief Instructor, a 2nd Dan Black Belt in World Taekwondo and a certified National Referee under the Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI).
The school was officially registered and approved by the Government of Meghalaya on 22nd August 2006 and has since been conducting regular Taekwondo training at the Sunny Hill Community Hall, Shillong – 2. Over the years, the school has produced many Black Belt students and proudly witnessed its students participate in state, national, and international competitions.
Since its inception, the institution has been affiliated with the Meghalaya Taekwondo Association (MTA), where it has consistently contributed to the promotion, growth, and development of Taekwondo in the state.
A New Identity
On 11th September 2025, after 19 years of dedicated service, MTTS convened a general meeting to mark a new chapter in its journey. During this meeting, it was officially resolved to rename the institution as the Meghalaya Taekwondo School (MTS) and induct new members into its governing body.
This decision, introduced by Mr. Happylife Sanglyne Basan in the presence of Mr. Donbor Lyngdoh, Chief Instructor, was aimed at aligning the school with its evolving mission and vision.
The new name was formally re-registered and approved on 17th September 2025, symbolizing both continuity and renewal.
Why the Change?
The transition from Meghalaya Taekwondo Training School to Meghalaya Taekwondo School reflects a vision of progress and inclusiveness:
Simplicity and Clarity: A concise, memorable name that directly communicates the school’s purpose.
Broader Appeal: Expanding beyond a training center into a hub for classes, competitions, seminars, and community involvement across the Meghalaya region.
Marketing and Perception: A strong identity that enhances recognition and strengthens branding.
Modernization: Reflecting a forward-looking outlook that meets the changing needs of students and the Taekwondo community.

For nearly two decades, MTS has stood as a symbol of Discipline, Respect, and Strength. With a solid foundation, dedicated leadership, and a renewed identity, the Meghalaya Taekwondo School continues its mission to inspire, train, and empower future generations through the art of Taekwondo.
