Kyorugi (Sparring) Uniform

The Taekwondo Kyorugi uniform, also known as the Dobok, is specially designed for sparring competitions to provide comfort, flexibility, and protection.

  • Dobok (Uniform):
Practitioners wear a lightweight white jacket and pants that allow free movement for kicks, jumps, and quick techniques. The V-neck style jacket (WTF/WT standard) represents discipline and tradition in Taekwondo.

  • Protective Gear:
For safety during sparring, athletes wear the following equipment:

    • Headgear (Hogu Cap): Cushioned helmet to protect the head.

    • Chest Protector (Hogu): Padded vest that absorbs impact, usually red or blue depending on the match corner.

    • Forearm & Shin Guards: Lightweight pads to protect against blocking and striking.

    • Gloves: Provide wrist and hand safety.

    • Groin Guard & Mouth Guard: Essential protection for all competitors.

    • Foot Protectors / Socks: For safe and clean striking, often sensor-enabled in electronic scoring competitions.

  • Colors:

    • White Dobok: Symbol of purity, discipline, and respect.

    • Red & Blue Hogu: Distinguishes opponents in sparring matches.

  • Functionality:
The Kyorugi uniform is designed to combine tradition with modern safety standards, ensuring athletes can perform with speed, agility, and confidence while staying protected.
